Setting up a home page and a post page in WordPress

Setting up a home page and a post page in WordPress involves configuring your website’s reading settings. Here are step-by-step instructions on how to do this:

  1. Login to Your WordPress Dashboard: Log in to your WordPress admin area using your username and password.
  2. Access the Reading Settings: In the WordPress dashboard, go to “Settings” in the left-hand sidebar and select “Reading.”
  3. Choose Your Homepage Display: In the “Reading Settings” page, you will see options for “Your homepage displays.” There are two main options:
    • Your Latest Posts: This option displays your most recent blog posts on the homepage.
    • A Static Page: This option allows you to set a specific page as your homepage and another page for your blog posts.
  4. Setting a Static Homepage: If you choose the “A Static Page” option:a. Select the “A static page” radio button. b. In the dropdown menu next to “Homepage,” choose the page you want to set as your homepage. This page should be created and published in advance. c. In the dropdown menu next to “Posts page,” choose the page where you want to display your blog posts. This page should also be created and published in advance.
  5. Save Changes: Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the “Save Changes” button to save your settings.
  6. View Your Website: Visit your website’s front-end (you can click your website name or “Visit Site” in the WordPress admin bar) to see the changes you’ve made. Your homepage should now display either your latest blog posts or the static page you’ve chosen as your homepage.

Remember to create the necessary pages before setting them as your homepage or posts page if you’re choosing the static page option. You can create new pages by going to “Pages” in the WordPress dashboard and clicking “Add New.”

These steps allow you to configure your WordPress website to display the content you want on the homepage and the blog posts page according to your preferences.
